Iceland From Above

Canceled COVID-19

UPDATE: As of January 9, 2019, this workshop is sold out. Please contact us to be placed on the waiting list, and please do check out our other workshops, thanks!

To describe Iceland’s Highlands requires many superlatives—the region contains Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull, Iceland’s tallest mountain, 6,919 foot Hvannadalshnúkur, and some of Iceland’s most active volcanoes: Hekla, Eyjafjallajökull and Katla. The Highlands are also home to a number of other notable peaks, as well as moss-covered passes, mighty waterfalls, ancient basalt formations, wildlife-rich oases, and unique vegetation.

On this workshop, you’ll be joining Muench Workshops co-founder Marc Muench, and veteran pro Randy Hanna, for five days of photography from air and land. We’ll have our own private helicopter, as well as a Super Jeep, to get us way off the beaten path. Bring your camera, bring your drone, bring your tripod, they’ll all get used! We’ll be flying over braided rivers, volcanic craters, and high-altitude lakes, then hiking to waterfalls and geologic formations. With such a high instructor-to-guest ratio, there will be plenty of time for individualized attention. Expect to learn all there is to know about aerial photography from Marc and Randy, who have each logged hundreds of hours of photography time in helicopters. Both are licensed commercial drone pilots and Randy is a former Army helicopter pilot.

We’ll be staying at a comfortable hotel, close to our photography destinations. When not busy shooting, we’ll take time for signature image reviews, critiques, and post-processing instruction.
